Vintage Stereo Gear
In the 1970's and 1980's I worked in stereo shops.  I really enjoy looking for old gear.
Most every piece I find needs nothing more than a little cleaning of the controls
to work perfectly.  There are many thrift shops in my area that you can find this stuff at
for very little money.

Receivers, Amps, and Tuners

Yamaha T-760 / A-760
Found this 1.6.2006 for $10.  It had a piece of paper taped to it that says does not work.  Actually it works perfectly.  Sometimes old equipment has so many controls that folks cannot figure them all out.  However I could not get the phono input to work.  A mystery for me to solve.
I like having this system on the kitchen counter.  Very compact for a full blown stereo system.  There is a pair of Advent towers one by the fridge and one at the counters end.  The Sony cassette was $5 and the CD player is a newer JVC bought normally when I used to buy new at the store. Never again! The turntable is a new Audio-Technica full manual which plays 78's as well as 33's and 45's.
Sansui TU-533 / AV-D33
I got all excited when I found this set for $30 and was itching for something by Sansui.  Switches were pretty dirty and kept it from playing properly.  It is a nice looking set but less powerful than it looks.  It will kick out if you fire up 4 Advent towers.  Super tuner though and layout.
Kenwood
This is one of my favorite.  Found this one for $5 at the local thrift.  It is really amazing what a full cleaning does for a dirty old receiver.  I take the face completely off and clean all the switches with contact cleaner.  This one has been a challenge to get all the controls clean so they don't fuzz when adjusting.
Mitsubishi
This amp and tuner set is not too old.  I actually found the tuner first.  Then I got the amp.  A few months later I found the matching tape deck.
Pioneer
One of the big Pioneers with analog tuning and a digital display
Sony Cassette Deck
Pioneer Equalizer
JVC 4 Channel Amp
A real oldie
Superscope 8 track
Pioneer SX-737
A new find that needs some work
Wollensack tape deck

Speakers

Advent Prodigy Towers
My first set of Advents found for $30 in perfect condition.  These speakers sound amazing!
Advent
One of 3 sets I bought when
 I had the Advent bug

Turntables

JC Penny MCS
The most inexpensive table I have found.  Semi-automatic belt drive.  Found with no dust cover and needle broken but hey what do you want for $3.  It fits pefrectly in this stand, another $3 find.
Panasonic
This Panasonic labeled base has a standard BSR table inside.  Cool because it plays 16-33-45-78.  I have a nice selection of 78's that I enjoy listening too.  It matches nicely with the Kenwood receiver.
Marantz
Sweet gold table.  Fully automatic.
Audio Technica
After buying lots of vintage turntables I decided to get a new one.  This model even has 78 speed.  Manual only so you can't leave a record playing and leave.
Pioneer
Nice older Pioneer.  When I lubed the motor I put it back together backwards.
Record Collection
This rack can hold 600 albums

Console

Zenith
When I started collecting records I was offered this mint condition console with a batch of records.  I really dig this 70's model.
Sony
Japan Sony with German turntable by Dual.
Check out all the wood.  When I got this the knobs barely turned.   Hours of work to get this back to mint condition fully operating.
